Rules and Guidelines
Kennedy Girls Hockey
(Player and Team)
 
  • A. Player must, at all times, be progressing towards passing grades in all classes.
  • B. Player must be in school or have valid excuse for absence to be eligible to participate in that days activity.
  • C. Player must inform coaching staff with a valid excuse if unable to attend practice or game.
  • D. Players must report all injuries to the coaching staff.
  • E. Serious injuries (ie: concussion) will require medical approval before returning to the ice.
  • F. Foul language will not be tolerated at anytime while participating on the Kennedy Girls Hockey Team. This includes but is not limited to: games, practices, locker rooms, and arenas. If after warning, should that language persist, disciplinary action will be taken.
  • G. Abuse or showing disrespect to officials, teammates, opponents, or coaching staff will not be tolerated. Loss of playing time will result if this action is detrimental to the team.
  • H. Locker room etiquette is expected to be adhered to by all players.
  • I. Unexcused absence from practice could result in loss of playing time.
  • J. Players will ride the team bus to and from all games when a bus is furnished (exceptions must be cleared in advance of the game and only by a parent/guardian).
  • K. All cell phones will be turned OFF and immediately put away BEFORE entering ANY arena proper. This is defined as the ice sheet, locker rooms, and stands area. If you have a fancy phone that you use for music, you will need ot find another sourcefor your musicentertainment. It is a State High School rule that prohibits cell phone in locker rooms. Our team rule is extending this  as you read above.  If you are found in violation of the above "in locker room" rule, you will face discipline from Kennedy High School. If found in violation in the arena proper area, team sanctions such as but not specific to, loss of playing time, can be imposed. An emergency exception can be made as to cell phone use if approved by a member of the Kennedy High School Girls coaching staff BEFORE use is made.



Coaches Expectations of Players
 
  1. Players will be ready to hit the ice 15 minutes before practice is scheduled to start.
  2. Attendance is expected at all team functions unless previously excused or sickness occurs. The coach must be notified if a player will be absent.
  3. Always give 100% effort - Go beyond your perceived limits.
  4. Communicate any concerns to the coaching staff.
  5. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, that is how you learn.
  6. Support your teammates - be a "TEAM PLAYER".
  7. Be a positive role model at all times.
  8. STAY CHEMICAL FREE
  9. Always exhibit good sportsmanship.
  10. Be a coachable, responsible individual.
  11. Understand that playing time is earned through a combination of effort, performance, understanding of the game, attitude, and overall talent.  As a result, game time ice will not be equal nor is it guaranteed.
  12. HAVE FUN!



Player Expectations of Coaches
 
  1. Coaches will treat all players respectfully and strive to improve their individual skill level within a team environment.
  2. Coaches will always have an open line of communication.
  3. Coaches will strive to put individuals in an environment where their skill level will lead to success.
  4. Coaches will maintain a safe practice environment.
  5. Coaches will develop concepts that best give the team the opportunity to be successful.
  6. Coaches will at all times exhibit and promote good sportsmanship, before, during and after games.




Kennedy Girls Hockey Lettering Policy
 
  1. A player must be academically eligible.
  2. A player must not be under any serious disciplinary action.
  3. A player must participate in 2/3's (two-thirds) of the total number of periods played during the regular Varsity season (excluding overtime). If a game goes into running time in the third period, this period will not count towards time played.
  4. A player must attend all practices/games unless there is a valid excuse.
  5. A player must maintain an attitude that is not detrimental to the team or her teammates.
  6. Any Senior player not meeting the listed criteria, but has participated on the JV/Varsity squad for a minimum of 3 (three) seasons.
